Step 8
Render/picture: Take your favourite render/picture that you would like to use and add it to your sig. There are many ways to extract your picture from the background (Please see the selection tutorials depending on the complexity of you image for additional details – unless you have a method of your own that you use). For this tutorial I am using this picture from the Final Fantasy game in the link below.
Final Fantasy
Please note: As far as I know, game images aren't really copyrighted. These can be scanned from the manuals of the games etc. I got this image from gamewallpapers. I think the copyright problems come into effect when using images for monetary gain. If you look at all the sig and grafix forums, they either use pictures from gamerenders or gamewallpapers. Please check for the rules on sites before using one of their images on your signature.
Step 9
Now to get your image to blend into the background. Grab the lasso tool and set the feather at 20 px. Trace around your image and then click the ‘Add layer mask’ button on your layers palette. You will notice a change, the edges of you image sort of fade away. (Please see the selection basics tutorials for additional details unless you have a method of your own that you use).
With your image you can play around with the colour settings, or you can desaturate the image and drop it below the colour adjustment layer. In the example I have just changed the hue and saturation a bit to go with the background.
Step 10
Here is another step that is all about personal preference. Text and font. I this case I have used a font called Resident Evil, with a drop shadow, a stroke of 1 px and a bevel and emboss.
I also dropped the fill of the text to 0 to show the background.
Step 11
The last step is the border. Create a new layer and press CTRL+A. Then go to Edit > Stroke select a width of 3px colour black, and must be set for inside. Hit OK. Press CTRL+D to deselect and set blending mode to overlay and Voila.
