We are now 7-years-old. That's 49-years-old in dog years!
But dogs can't use websites. Or can they?!?
I forget my point... Oh yes!! Have some cake!
Changes in Beginner Contest Eligibility - PS and Photo
Effective immediately will begin using a points system to determine Beginner contest eligibility in Photoshop and Photography sections of the site. We think this new method will be more indicative of a person's skill level than the current system.
This system is based on the points as they are used on the Hall of Fame.
Gold: 9 points
Silver: 3 points
Bronze: 1 point
Beginner points will be distinguished from Advanced points. When you accumulate 27 Beginner or Advanced points, you will be considered too good for the Beginner contests. This change is retroactive. So, if you have previously graduated, you may be eligible for Beginner contests again. (note: Entries currently in open contests will not be affected.)
Photography players please this thread for more details on how this will affect you.
We have developed a tool to help you (and us) determine your how many points you have.
Go to your stats page. In the User Links box on the right, click User Rankings.
On the User Rankings page, you will need to select Beginner or Advanced from the Contest Levels box and select Photoshop or Photography from the Media Types box.
Example: Using my stats. (Obviously, if you are a Photoshop player you will select Photoshop not Photography)
Multimedia and Text have special contests which do not count toward eligibility (Illo Rev, poetry), so they will maintain their current system. This change only affects players in Photoshop and Photography sections.
If you have questions about your eligibility please contact your section admin.
Monthly Fantasy Photoshop Series: Holiday Special
This is a special time of year for everyone, where people from all nations and creeds can exchange gifts, sing joyously and enjoy a lovely family dinner.
In this contest we want you to show us how your favorite holiday of this season might be celebrated in a fantasy or science fiction setting. Do dragons think that a lump of delicious coal would be a wonderful surprise to find in their stocking? Do zombies gift wrap brains for each other? Do robots go caroling? Do aliens celebrate around the Festivus Pole? Do Orc kiddies dream of sugarplum castles to pillage?
The rules for this contest: depict a seasonal holiday tradition in a fantasy or Science Fiction setting.
You may not use any existing fantasy/sci fi images as sources for this contest, whether from films, paintings or wherever. Your creation must be put together from mundane source photos. Historical photos (either from museums or recreationists) are allowable.
As fantasy art is rarely photographic in nature all images are "to be judged on consistent style not necessarily photorealism", the goal of the contest is to create cool art, not a hoax. As always, have fun, be creative, follow the guidelines please, and be careful to avoid using any cliches. You have an entire month to work on your entries so we're expecting something special!
Please not that this contest will be slightly earlier in the month, with the submission period starting on December 18th and ending on December 24th.
